JOB TITLE: Registered Nurse

LOCATION: Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center

DEPARTMENT: Medical Surgical 6E/ Float

WORK SCHEDULE: Days/Evenings 7am-7:30pm; Every other weekend/holiday rotation

WORK TYPE: Full time (0.9 FTE) - 72 hours Bi-weekly; 40W overtime

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process. Provides care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's

physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs with respect to the beliefs and values of co-workers, patients and their families.

Directly accountable to the Care Director.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrates willingness to work in a team environment.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

For Registered Nurses with less than five (5) years work experience as an RN, a BSN degree is required or enrollment in a BSN

program within 12 months of hire date with BSN degree completed within 4 years of hire date is required.

For Registered Nurses with more than 5 years of work experience as an RN in an acute/inpatient capacity, a BSN degree is not required.

For current Geisinger Registered Nurses who transfer into this position, BSN degree is preferred.

BLS certification preferred and required within 60 days of employment.

ACLS/PALS may be required within 1 year of employment (unit specific).

Must obtain specialty certification within two years of hire.

Duration of on-the-job training to become familiar with job duties varies by individual unit.
