Geisinger Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) Lead- Perioperative in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Leads team of assigned area with responsibility for all operational functions of the team. Responsible for developing and initiating improvements in the organization and delivery of high quality, cost effective services. Responsible for overall quality of assigned area.

Job Duties

  • Primarily responsible for supervising the daily operations of assigned department.

  • This includes: participating in establishing staff work schedules to maintain daily staffing and accommodate daily volumes.

  • Improving nursing protocols, policy changes and communicating these changes to staff.

  • Recommends and implements changes to improve overall efficiency, effectively utilizing problem resolution skills.

  • Assists leadership in the interviewing process and candidate selection for open positions.

  • Develops new employee orientation and acts as primary preceptor during orientation, works to resolves clinical issues, provides input to leadership staff performance reviews.

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities of the staff Registered Nurse.

  • Acts as resource for department support staff, accesses and develops training and educational needs of department.

  • Takes on responsibilities of Team Leader and Manager in their absence.

  • Responsible for maintaining adequate supplies and maintenance of equipment, supervising proper use and care.

  • Actively participates in patient safety improvement and management program.

  • Assumes responsibility for identifying processes or systems that could potentially lead to errors and adverse event.

  • Promptly reports serious events and incidents in accordance with established hospital policy and procedure.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Travel may be required. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Position Details

Hours: Full-time; 8 or 10 hour shifts; rotating start times between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Weekends: occasional Saturdays

Major Holidays and On-Call: None

Experience: minimum of 2 years RN work experience is required

Education

Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (Required)

Experience

Minimum of 2 years-Nursing (Required)

Certification(s) and License(s)

Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body; Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania
