JOB TITLE: Patient Access Representative

LOCATION: Geisinger Community Medical Center

DEPARTMENT: Radiation Administration

WORK SCHEDULE: Rotation

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides front office / clerical support for all aspects of a patient’s visit to Radiology (Diagnostics, Mammography, PET, MRI and Interventional Radiology). Performs various secretarial / administrative duties in support of the entire Department of Radiology in an efficient and effective manner.

Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

Works under the supervision of the Administrative Work Coordinator.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Demonstrates competence in written, oral and electronic communication skills.

Demonstrates intermediate typing, keyboarding skills.

Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, insurance referral and pre-certification processes, coding, EPIC applications, Cadence, and RIS.

Demonstrates ability to work independently, set priorities, multi-task and provide problem resolution.

Demonstrates competence in customer service skills and interpersonal relations.

Demonstrates high regard for confidentiality.

Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to perform both independently and as part of a team.

Demonstrates a solid understanding of general office support functions.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED and minimum of one (1 -3) years clerical experience, preferably within a medical office setting.

Successful completion of Key Access Personnel (KAP) training during orientation period.

Proficiency with EPIC, RIS and Microsoft applications preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is typically performed in an office environment.
