JOB SUMMARY:

Acts as a liaison between patient care units and the Department of Foodservices. Responsible for the distribution of patient menus,trays, and nourishments. Assists patients with tray setup as needed. Ensures a professional and appropriate service standard while performing the job. Follows system wide standards as well as department specific service standards.

Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

Directly accountable to the Foodservice Supervisor (Patient).

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Must display initiative in completion of daily activities.

Strong organizational and time management skills, good oral communication skills, Computrition skills, data entry skills, patience, knowledge of 10 major therapeutic diets, exceptional customer/service skills.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma preferred.

Work is performed in a hospital environment. Previous experience in food service is desirable. Previous computer experience preferred.

On-the-job training is provided.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Stands and walks most of the day. Stoops must be able to push, lift and carry supplies.

GEISINGER-COMMUNITY MEDICAL CENTER (G-CMC), Scranton, Pa., is an acute care hospital licensed for 297 beds and houses the only Level II Trauma Center in Lackawanna County and Scranton’s only neurosurgery program and adult in-patient behavioral health unit.
