Geisinger Director of Student Well-Being in Scranton, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

The Director of Student Well-Being is charged with development, implementation, and quality improvement for programs and policies to support this mission-critical area in student affairs for the Geisinger College of Health Sciences. Using the theoretical framework of holistic student affairs, The Director of Student Well-Being will develop and execute well-being programming, improve access to and use of well-being resources and lead efforts on community building, leadership development, and retention.

Job Duties

  • Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the Center for Student Well-Being.

  • Oversee the Student Well-Being and Engagement operational funding for the College of Health Sciences.

  • Provide oversight of student wellness initiatives and programs across the College of Health Sciences to advance educational excellence and the Division of Student Affairs’ mission and goals.

  • Provide a holistic perspective on student well-being through collaboration with members of the Division of Student Affairs, the Wellness Committee, Learning Environment Committee, Curriculum Committee, student leadership groups, and stakeholders throughout the institution such as Office of Health Equity & Inclusion and Financial Aid to ensure wellness programming meets the needs of all students throughout the Geisinger College of Health Sciences community.

  • Provide insight and consultation regarding policies and expectations related to student wellness including attendance, disability services, student protections, academic achievement.

  • Act as a resource to develop and maintain well-being activities at all sites for medical, graduate and nursing students.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor outcomes related to well-being programing for students.

  • Provide oversight of the Geisinger College of Health Sciences Behavioral Intervention Team (CARE Team).

  • Serve as a liaison between Geisinger College of Health Sciences, Geisinger Student Health Services, Geisinger Student Psychological Services, and contracted external partners related to student health and well-being.

  • Manage communication and collaboration efforts on resources shared externally with various constituents and internally within Geisinger College of Health Sciences for students, faculty, and staff.

  • Collaborate with partner leadership to ensure available and adequate access to student mental health, physical health and well-being resources.

  • Provide direct support to students through well-being guiding, planning, and referring.
