JOB TITLE: Medical Records Clerk

LOCATION: Geisinger HIM Pittston

DEPARTMENT: Health Information Managment

WORK SCHEDULE: Evenings 3:00pm-11:30pm Rotation of Weekends and Holidays

WORK TYPE: Full time


Performs duties to support the goals and objective of the hospital in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

Works under the supervision of the HIM Manager or Director


*1. Assist in death certificate completion (GHS only)

*2. Emergency release of information activities as required (excludes GBH)


Requires ability to read, write, file, communicate and possess keyboard skills

Requires a current Pennsylvania driver’s license

Demonstrates ability to respect the confidentiality of all information concerning patients and hospital affairs by following established hospital and departmental policies and procedures

Demonstrates reliability and punctuality in reporting to work and in performance of job duties

Position requires up to 6 months of on-the-job training to become familiar with all job duties


High School graduate or equivalent required

Previous work experience with Microsoft Office software such as Word and Outlook required


Constant standing, walking, pushing, bending and lifting up to 25 pounds are involved in job duties.

At GHS, GWV and GCMC on-call rotation, weekend and holiday coverage is mandatory.

Travel Required between Campus locations Geisinger Northeast . Valid PA Drivers License required.
