Geisinger Gastroenterology is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join our growing team at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital in Lewistown, PA.

Join an established team of physicians, APs, and LPNs.

This position will perform in collaboration with the physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to assure that patient care is delivered in a caring and efficient manner throughout Geisinger in an effort to increase patient satisfaction and patient outcomes. Assists in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. Functions as a patient advocate in the medical care system as confidant, advisor, and liaison between patients, families and physicians. In addition to seeing patients in the outpatient GI clinic, this position will be responsible for seeing inpatient consults at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital, in collaboration with the on-call physician.

Reports clinically to the Director of GI and administratively to Operations Manager.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

· Must obtain and maintain BLS

· Demonstrates computer literacy, accurate and timely charting via Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

· Demonstrated exemplary judgment, interpersonal, communication and team-based skills. Demonstrated effectiveness and accuracy in the completion of responsibilities.

· Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Must be able to interact directly with patients in a way as to instill confidence and facilitate communication.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the responsibility and supervision of the physician and require completion of an ARC-PA (or predecessor organization) approved physician assistant program, current NCCPA certification or eligibility and Pennsylvania state licensure.

The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will work in collaboration with the physician and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners or be eligible to hold national certification that allows the NP to work with the patient populations and location settings associated with this position. Must be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of PA.
