JOB TITLE: Patient Access Representative

LOCATION: Jersey Shore Hospital

JOB SUMMARY:

A challenging position requiring the employee to possess computer, clerical and quick-thinking skills. Receive, screen and disperses incoming calls, responds to emergencies and alarms. Make overhead announcements and performs all necessary duties required for registering patients for appointments and Emergency Department visits.

Performs duties to provide accurate information and communication services, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Demonstrates computer skills, data entry, clerical and intermediate typing skills.

Demonstrates ability to maintain and communicate a positive customer service attitude with a diverse population with tact and diplomacy.

Demonstrate ability to be sensitive, patient and empathetic.

Demonstrate ability to handle confidential information and close attention to detail.

Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum 1 year experience as a telephone operator and registration experience preferred.

Willing to train candidate.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
