LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center Hospital
WORK SCHEDULE: Days
WORK TYPE: Full Time (1.0 FTE; 80 hours biweekly)
Responsible for front line office support for the Orthopaedics Department and MRI / Orthotics.
Coordinates and performs front line office activities in an effective and efficient manner.
Directly accountable to the Clinic Coordinator, Orthopaedic Surgery/Operations Manager.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates competence in written, oral, and electronic communication skills (intermediate typing, keyboarding, and computer skills).
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of medical terminology, ability to read and understand insurance cards/claim forms, insurance referral and pre-certification processes, EPIC applications, IDX, SMS / RIS, Groupwise, Cadence, and dims.
Demonstrates the ability to navigate online to access insurace company online tools.
Demonstrates office skills; proficient at electronic scanning.
Demonstrates the ability to work independently, set priorities, multi-task, and provide problem resolution.
Demonstrates customer service skills. Solid experience and skill needed in dealing with patients and resolving patient problems.
Demonstrates good math skills to be able to calculate fees due, deductibles, and other charges.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum six months KAP experience required.
Successful completion of Key Access Personnel (KAP) training during orientation period.

Work is typically performed in an office environment.
