Job Summary :

The Managing Editor leads editorial content development for all Geisinger-branded pieces across all audiences and channels. Leading a team of copywriters and copyeditors, ensures consistency of the Geisinger brand “voice” in all materials, while also delivering the desired messaging through engaging, conversational and accurate writing. Supporting a wide range of writing needs, the managing editor leads a team that will tell the Geisinger brand story across multiple channels and formats. These include but are not limited to: print and digital advertising; web site landing pages; collateral materials such as poster, brochures, fliers and direct mail; letters to patients; and social media posts. Working collaboratively with the graphic design team, project management and the marketing strategy team, the managing editor will understand the goals and objectives of each writing project and ensure that copy is delivered on deadline. Mastery of Geisinger writing style guidelines is essential. Work is deadline driven and fast-paced. The manager will support the maintenance and evolution of the Geisinger brand.

Education and or Experience:

•Bachelor’s degree required

•At least 5+ years copyediting in a healthcare, insurance, agency or related advertising agency, in-house agency, or medical publishing company

•Experience working in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism

•Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are essential

•Working knowledge of AMA Manual of Style, AP Style Guide

•Proficient in English grammar and usage

•Familiarity with digital media (navigating web/device interfaces)

•Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, and Traffic Workflow Systems

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•High level of organization, motivation and ability to work under pressure and supervision

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Work is typically performed in an office environment. Independent travel to various locations throughout Geisinger service territory may be required.
