JOB TITLE: Patient Care Unit Assistant Telemetry

LOCATION: Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Cardiac Specialty Care Unit

WORK SCHEDULE: Nights

WORK TYPE: Full Time

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of clerical duties and/or patient care tasks, depending on the need of the unit. The performance of these tasks is essential to enhance the care team's ability to provide quality care. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range in their assigned clinical area.

Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System.

Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards.

Functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Reports directly to the Operations Manager.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively by utilizing good verbal and written communication skills, which include courteous and confident behavior and demonstration of proper telephone etiquette.

Demonstrates ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.

Demonstrates basic computer skills, efficient navigation in a Windows environment and use of basic browser and email functionality.

Demonstrates proficiency in use of Cardiac Monitoring System.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Basic math skills required.

Successful completion of role orientation and competencies. Demonstrates ability to maintain competencies as it relates to the telemetry role. Continuing in-services and education programs required.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
