JOB TITLE: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

LOCATION: Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA

The successful candidate, in concert with the physician, serves in an expanded role to assess, diagnose, and treat adult cardiac patients referred to the Cardiology Service Line. Demonstrates autonomy through patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. Orders testing as deemed necessary and remains proficient in interpreting results and prescribing appropriate medication regimen within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner. In collaboration with the cardiologist, manages and assists in the smooth, efficient operations of the inpatient cardiology patient, outpatient cardiology clinic, cardiac labs and outreach cardiology clinics. Communicates appropriately with patients and referring health care providers. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

Reports to the System Administrative Director, Geisinger Heart Institute.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the responsibility and supervision of the physician and require completion of an ARC-PA approved physician assistant program, NCCPA certification or eligibility, and Pennsylvania State licensure.

The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will work in collaboration with the physician and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners, be eligible for or hold current national certification as a Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner and must be eligible for licensure by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Prefer candidates with recent extensive cardiology experience.

Must be current in BLS and hold an updated CPR card.
