JOB TITLE: Electromechanical Equipment Tech

Under limited supervision, maintains and repairs the following equipment: refrigerator equipment and air conditioning units, Laundry equipment, Central Service equipment, Patient Care equipment, vehicles, Lab equipment, and other equipment throughout the Hospital.


Checks, calibrates and regularly inspects refrigeration equipment, controls thermostats to determine if functioning properly and maintaining temperature and degree of compression. Determines if equipment needs Freon, adds the required amount and adheres to all guidelines regarding CFL control to ensure environmental protection.

Responds to service requests on anesthesia machines. Performs service if echelon of repair is authorized through manufacturer training. If not, coordinates manufacturer service.

Services and repairs hospital equipment such as beds, stethoscopes, blood pressure equipment, medical gas outlets and lines and other patient care equipment.

Maintains rapport with all departments to facilitate clarification of the nature of equipment problems.

Services, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on medical, air and vacuum systems and air compressors throughout the hospital.

Services, repairs and does preventative maintenance on all equipment in Laundry. This includes service on mechanical, electrical and electronic components.

Services, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on various equipment in the Laboratory Department.

Services, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on sterilizing and disinfecting equipment throughout the hospital. Ensures proper operation to protect patients from infection. Adheres to all codes and guidelines on proper reclamation of ethylene oxide to protect the environment.

Helps out with other trades as needed and performs additional duties as assigned.

Troubleshoot and repairs the following systems: Steam and hot water systems, Ice Machines, HVAC systems, Johnson Control systems, air handlers, nurse call systems.

Service and repair warming cabinets.

Electrical repairs or replacement of components ? outlets, switches, lighting, etc.

Plumbing repairs.

Gas welding, brazing, soldering, arc welding.

Fire alarm systems ? responding and troubleshooting.

On call for Hospital and outbuildings.

Travel to outbuildings for repairs to electric or gas AC/heat pump, hot water, steam, etc.

Completes any tasks assigned by Department supervisor.


High School diploma plus special two-year training from an accredited trade school.

A minimum of two years? experience of related work experience.

Certificate in refrigerant transition and recovery program.

Preventative Maintenance on ice machine and repairs.

Welding, brazing, soldering.
